Hello and welcome to my genius hour project. This project is going to be really tough because of how much work I have in other classes, my busy schedule, my laziness (which I'm hoping to get better at), and the possible injuries that I may encounter.
Speaking of injuries, I have already hurt my left leg hamstring. I did this while running to second in a game but it just happened out of nowhere. As far as I am concerned, it is not anything super serious. I am hoping that it is just a small strain or something else but I do not want this to affect my baseball season and this project. A few days before I encountered this minor injury, I started my exercises for both my speed and agility and my arm strength. Now that I have this leg injury, I am going to try and let it heal but I will still be doing my arm exercises. I will soon post a link to every exercise that I will be doing with short videos of how to do them. The exercises are not all that difficult but if I intentionally put tension on the band and stretch it out as far as I can, it will soon become difficult. There are three types of ways I can do each exercise; Standard, Eccentric, and Concentric. I will mostly be doing the standard and eccentric exercises because they are the best for my arm. One of my biggest problems is my time management. I cannot find any time to do anything, especially with the school baseball and homework. I have never been so busy at all times and I feel like I always have something that I need to be doing. Even when I have free time I feel like I am wasting my time but I feel like that should be normal because I am not too organized with planning.

Hello and welcome to my genius hour project. My name is Cooper Bliss and I will be trying to increase my throwing velocity as much as possible and try to make my 60-yard dash as fast as possible.
I will be trying to complete these two goals because they will significantly help me for my travel baseball, school baseball, overall agility, and ability to commit to goals. I have always struggled with committing to goals before I see any progress. I usually just settle for less before I even see the progress which is what I want to change. There are many ways to do these two exercises but we will go over arm strength or throwing velocity first. The first thing you have to understand is that increasing throwing velocity is extremely difficult and you cannot slack off. I increased roughly five mph over the winter break which is extremely good for me, especially since I did not do any serious weight lifting or training. Anyways, the exercises that I will be doing are resistant band training. I will do eccentric and concentric band training. For beginners, eccentric movements are when you explode forward from starting position, then very slowly let back down. Concentric is the opposite of eccentric. It may not seem like they are very effective, but they definitely are. I will be documenting my progress by taking occasional videos of my exercises. I will also clock myself for throwing velocity and for my 60-yard dash. Clocking my arm speed at maximum speed daily/ weekly is not very healthy so I will do it roughly 3-4 times throughout the entirety of the project. On the other hand, clocking my 60-yard dash time will not be unhealthy so I can do that probably once every two weeks. The most difficult part of this project will be actually sticking to the project and not slacking off. |
